- Check the switch if there is any damage. Even you should inspect the position of the switch whether it’s in the correct place or not. If the switch is causing trouble, change or set up a new switch.
- When the cord is more extended than the required length, the machine won’t react appropriately. Buy standard length cord such as 25’ or 50’ gauge cord. I recommend you not to use torn or damaged wire.
- Change the power outlet, and you will see the improvement.
- Shut down the device and wait for at least 30 minutes. After cooling the Ryobi pressure washer, restart it.
Problem: Insufficient Pressure
Causes
- Small garden hose
- Restricted water supply
- Clogged water inlet filter
- Air-suction in the pump

- You should change the hose size. 1” or 5/8” would be better as a replacement.
- Open the water source completely. Look for the leakage or any blockage.
- After repetitive uses, the water inlet filter gets clogged. It is familiar to each electric pressure washer. You should remove the filter and clean it. Rinse the filter with warm water and let it dry.
- Tighten all the fittings and hose connections. Try to pull the trigger on the spray gun. Then there will be a flow of water that runs through the pressure washer nozzle.
Problem: Output Pressure Fluctuation
Causes
- Insufficient inlet water supply

- Discharge nozzle error
- Solidified gun, hose, or power nozzle

Problem: Water and Oil Leakage From The Pump
Causes
- Fitting issues
- Damaged or worn water seals
- Broken oil seals

- Contact the seller or manufacturer support. They will care about the water seal.
- Use a sealant to seal the oil container. If it seems harsh, contact the manufacturer.
Problem: Motor Starts But Running Failure
Causes
- Low supply voltage
- Loss of voltage
- Residual pressure in the unit
- Residual friction
Ryobi pressure washer troubleshooting
- You should avoid using other devices on the same circuit. Multiple devices can lower the supply voltage below the minimum requirement.
- Check if the extension cord is damaged. You can also remove the extension cord and plug in the Ryobi pressure washer directly to the power outlet.
- After turning the device off, pull the trigger on the sprayer. It will release pressure. Then switch on the device.
- First, disconnect the water supply. Then turn on the machine for 2 to 3 seconds. You can repeat this process a couple of times. Then the motor will start properly.

I’m trying to diagnose and resolve a problem with a Ryobi 2000 PSI Electric Pressure Washer (#RY141900) that started about two hours into pressure washing yesterday. All was working great and then…I “lost” control of the spray. As soon as I turned the machine on, the spray started. The lever used to start and stop the spray did not control it. Any suggestions?

My problem with the Ryobi 2000 psi electric power washer has this problem when I turn it on I have no leaks and I have 7 1/2 pounds of water pressure to my unit. When I first bought the product I had good 2000 psi coming from the nozzle this was in 2020. I get it out to do some power washing I have a lower pressure coming from the tip and when I have it on I can pull the trigger several times when the power washer is running and when I do so my pressure goes to normal but when I release the trigger to a normal wash cycles I have half of the pressure I need what is the cause and how do I repair it ?
